Weekend Trip
This weekend I'm heading to San Simeon with my dad. We're going to see Hearst's Castle and then stop by Solvang on the way back. Pretty relaxing weekend bonding with him. Expect a write up and lots of pictures.

New Orleans Day 2
I've waited waaaaaay too long to post about this, but I got hugely busy at work and with my Heathen Group. Whooo~!
The second day of New Orleans trip we went to a few places and had a long road trip all the way across the state. The whole way up was forest or swamp. It was quite scenic and enjoyable. The Forested areas were so lovely and green and somewhat mystical even through the car window. Our destination was the Myrtle's Plantation way at the top of Louisianna. Very cool place and reportedly haunted.
It was worth the look and the lovely drive up. The place was very peaceful and reminded me of childhood summers either in the South or in the wilderness with my dad.

Mindy and I, did however have a wonderful nommy lunch there. I had a Po' boy and Hush Puppies and she had Turtle Soup. It was great and the waitress was beyond nice, especially as she was so liberal with the Sweet Tea. The interior of the place was a little dark, but charming and certainly the food had won my heart.
After Lunch, we went outside to look around. Remember last time when I talked about there being cats everywhere? Well there were TWO here; and they were so friendly! One came up and rubbed his face on me to say hello. Other than the friendly cats, there were other attractive things to enjoy, like a swampy pond and the tall, Spanish Moss laden trees. The whole place was quiet as if nothing could happen here but lazy walks in the woods and big tall glasses of Sweet Tea.
The inside was lovely, but I got no real intelligent haunting feel. Residual perhaps... it did have a sort of musty, stagnant feeling that I think could speak of residual feelings. But it was also quite pleasant even in that stagnation. Quiet and solitary, but not isolated. Just... as if the house were relaxing in thought. One shot however was allowed and that was of the mirror in the foyer. Supposedly has a face in it...but, I still haven't got my traditional film developed because I get too busy. Maybe later I shall upload.
Anyway, the outside was lovely and green and I can't say how much I wanted a porch swing at that moment. We met some lovely girls there and took a picture for them. They were really cute! And very sweet. Seriously, I didn't meet a single mean person on this trip. It was a welcome respite from Irvine natives and their awful rude driving. (Another great thing about Louisianna, no traffic!)
We both took turns on the porch and just relaxed before heading back into New Orleans. For that, since I love good stories and legends, we went on a Haunted History Tour. Our guide was AWESOME. She was funny and witty and full of a sort of pleasant attitude. We had a great time and absorbed a great many gruesome and memorable stories. I highly recommend their tours if you have some spare time, they are very affordable too.
Lastly we had a wonderful dinner at a place called Luke's a combo French/German restaurant right across from our hotel. Oh...deliciousness personified. I got the Spaetzle and the Maultaschen. She got the Burger and the fries in duck fat. Nom Nom.
All in all an awesome and nomsome day.
